PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
For children turning 4 by September 1, NPA offers a Pre-Kindergarten program to fully prepare children for their formal school years. NPA is a Voluntary Pre-K Provider, and has participated since the inception of the program in 2004. The Pre-K classroom is structured similar to a Kindergarten day.
Pre-K continues to strengthen all areas of a child’s development. Cognitive growth is enhanced through developing creative problem-solving skills, beginning letter and sound recognition, and learning to classify, sequence, and hypothesize. Opportunities for cooperative play, sharing, tolerance, and understanding feelings are an integral part of the day. Most 4 year-olds are very social, and we consistently reinforce the concept of being a friend and a member of a warm, cooperative community. Physical development continues through classroom activities, and at least two daily excursions to the playground.
The children have many opportunities to advance their writing skills and master proper pencil grip while engaging in more challenging puzzles, math manipulatives, and art activities. The 4-year-olds enjoy learning about our holidays – traditionally, culturally, and practically.
Our P-K are also eligible to begin our Kid’s Computer Program, one of NPA’s enrichment programs available.
